Our History

Resources In Food and Food Team began as a single company, Food Temps, Inc., a small business designed to be operated and managed in St. Louis, MO. Both temporary labor and management placement were available through the same company.

When the company was established in St. Louis, there was no competition in this field. Therefore, it was thought that the restaurant and hospitality industry would welcome such a service, just as other industries had learned to use and depend on experienced temporaries to supplement their staffing needs. However, that assumption proved to be incorrect. Because such a service was so new to the industry, potential clients did not recognize the advantages and money-saving opportunities in using a temporary agency. Food Temps, Inc. had to embark on a major client-education program to demonstrate how temps could and should be used. At the time, the company had neither an established reputation nor references in the national restaurant industry. As a result, national clients were reluctant to give the new company a chance to prove its ability in this area.

After three long years the business started to grow. Both segments, temporary and management-placement services, began to gain industry acceptance. The first branch office was opened in Kansas City, and after a similar slow start, it also prospered.

It became evident that the two segments of the company had different client bases within the industry. Food Temps' temporaries primarily serviced hotels and contract food operations; conversely, the management-placement side of the business chiefly serviced national restaurant chains. In order to better serve all clients, the company was divided into two separate entities. Food Team, Inc. was the successor company for temporary labor sales, and Resources In Food, Inc. was formed to serve the management-placement business.

Our reputation for providing fast, dependable service at a fair price has allowed us to establish national agreements with many national contract feeder companies and restaurant chains and to expand into new markets with greater ease. Today both companies have operations in many states with more openings planned each year.
